V - Comps

V comps are computers made by Orange/Suryansh corps. These computers don't have a keyboard. Instead, you speak to them, and they speak to you back. Wouldn't you want a computer like that. It also doesn't have an accent problem. This way people from anywhere can  use it and not only people in America or Great Britain. But, we only have one problem. This isn't real!!!

Holi

One holiday tradition that has been passed down for years in my family is to put colors on friends, and  family members on Holi. We do this to celebrate the death of the demon Holika who is believed to have died this day. On Holi we get up very early and come outside to play Holi. People then start shooting people colored water with their pichkaris, water guns and other gadgets. Holi is such fun.

Diwali

Diwali is one of my favorite holidays! It is also a very busy day for me. I wake up at 6:00 in the morning. Do my morning routine. Then at 9:00, we have to start cleaning the house, which is the most difficult task for my family because our house is really messy.after the house is cleaned, it is 7:00pm. Then my father brings a statue of the goddess Laxmi and the God Ganpathi. Then after an hour, we start to pray and chant mantras. After we're done with that, we start eating ladoos, sweets and start to light diyas, which is a type of lamp. Then we go outside and burn firecrackers. (If they're legal in the place) But firecrackers or no firecrackers, Diwali will still be my favorite festival.

Sisters

Sister. What is a sister? Different people have different opinions, to me a sister is a mean, devilish and irritating creature who lives with you in your house and you have to be nice to her as she is part of your family. But this was not always the case, as there was a time when I thought differently. At that time my sister was like the greatest thing in the world to me. I do remember one such moment when I felt that she was the cutest, prettiest, and the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. I remember it like it was yesterday. I was three years old and I was just waking up from my sleep. I was also getting ready to ask the same question, I had been asking for the past several months.
“Mummy, can I hold her?” I knew that there was a fat chance of her saying yes, but I still asked her.                                                                                                                     “Ok. But only for a minute,” replied my mom. I was shocked. I just couldn’t believe my ears.                                                                                                                            “Really! Really! Really! ” I asked to make sure it wasn’t a dream.
“Yes, and don’t ask me again or I will say no.” I was so happy. It was like I had won a million dollars. Till that time my mom and dad had never allowed me to hold her. They said that I was too small for this job. I was so excited that I couldn’t pay attention to anything my mom was saying on how to hold the baby. Finally the moment arrived when I got to hold my baby sister. First my mom asked me to calm down and made me sit cross-legged on the bed. Then she picked my sister from her crib and placed her on my lap. Her soft, delicate, small body was in my arm and she smelled like sweet, fresh, wet flowers. It was a great moment, as I felt like a big, strong, grown up boy, although I was just a little kid.
“Do you want to feed her?” asked my mom.
“Yes! Can I? Can I? Can I?” I was very excited. My dad gave me a bottle of milk and my mom helped me in feeding her. She opened her mouth and sucked the bottle greedily. After she finished her milk, she opened her eyes and gave me a big smile as if she’s thanking me.
Now it is a different story. She never gives me a smile and “thank you”, forgets it. She does everything that bothers and irritates me. I have no privacy. She is there all the time. Though, my sister has no respect for me now, there will always be a moment about her that I will never forget.

Are You Proud Of Your Country?

Yes. I’m proud of my country. Not because I’m writing this essay, but because I’m really proud of my country and I have good reasons for it. It was this country that fought the world’s strongest nation of that time for freedom. There might have been hundreds of countries that had fought world superpowers and have had civil wars, but they did not believe in liberty. But this country had always believed in liberty and freedom for all, at all the time. This country began with thirteen states, and now has fifty states and a few commonwealths. Many countries used to underestimate us in the beginning, but now this country is the only world superpower. Though it was hard work to become a world superpower, but we did it. There have been many ups and downs in this country like the Great Depression of 1929, or the Civil War of 1881, but the people of this country have never given up their hope. When our founding fathers created this nation, they hoped for a united and just country because they knew how it felt to be under a tyrant, and they were successful in making such a country. That’s why you will see many people of different cultures and races living here. If you will ask any of them why their ancestor did came here, they all will have the same answer, liberty. Although their ancestors knew that the journey will be hard, they felt it was worth it. This country not only believes for itself, but in liberty for all, or why else would it help Libya as it takes down its dictator, Muammar Gadhafi. This country has a huge history of justice and liberty. I shall now say this sentence, not once, not twice, but a thousand times, I am proud of my country.

Halloween

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. I just love to trick or treat. Getting so much candy that could last for months is always a lifetime offer to me.   I'm not sure if I'm going to get dressed for Halloween this year because we're too busy to get a costume. There is one family tradition, that I will enjoy this year if my sister goes for trick or treating is that I get to take her for it and she will share half of what she gets. That is why I just love Halloween.
